This training is designed to prepare employees for the role of Lookout/Site Warden. Delegates will be able to perform the responsibilities of a Lookout to the standard of competence established in the theoretical and practical evaluations by the conclusion of the course. 

In accordance with NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements, it is the Sponsor’s duty to verify that applicants booked onto the course are eligible for the training they will receive, as well as any applicable medical level or limitation that may apply. 

Candidates should be informed that they will be treated as if they were at work when attending a training event, and they must adhere to the applicable medical policy and carry their Sentinel Smartcard, which will be swiped at the start of the session.

Pre-Requisite Requirements

  • Must be a minimum age of 18.
  • Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements to medical level 1 or 3 (must be eligible to work alone) and Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).
  • Must have sufficient command of English language as detailed in Network Rail Company Specification NR/S/CTM/021 (Competence & Training in Track Safety).
  • Must bring Sentinel smart card with PTS (must not be in learning support or have red triangle on card).
  • Network Rail Rulebook module 3 – optional (we recommend that you revise this module before attending the course).
  • Photo ID – For British Nationals – a current and valid recognised, branded form of identity token, used for accessing the RMI (Railway Maintained Infrastructure) such as a Sentinel Card, full driving licence, passport, biometric ID Card, resident permit as per Home Office guidance or ‘ValIDate’ card. For Non-British Nationals – a current and valid passport is required.
  • PPE Visibility clothing to RIS-3279-TOM standard, white hard hat, Safety boots with full ankle and mid-sole protection and gloves
  • Please advise of any special needs i.e. Dyslexia
